On Wednesday, 23 September, the Virida Day Hospital team took part in a full day of Basic Life Support (BLS) training at the hospital, facilitated by Ariska Roets.
The training focused on practical emergency-response skills and gave team members the opportunity to refresh and practise techniques that may be required when responding to a medical emergency.
Throughout the day, staff worked through hands-on training using resuscitation manikins and emergency equipment. The sessions included practical CPR exercises, airway and ventilation techniques, use of resuscitation equipment, and simulated emergency scenarios designed to build confidence and reinforce effective teamwork.
For a day hospital environment, regular emergency training is an important part of maintaining a strong culture of patient safety. It helps ensure that team members remain familiar with the steps required during a time-critical situation and can work together calmly and efficiently when every second matters.
The day also provided an opportunity for staff from different roles within the hospital to train together. Beyond the technical skills involved, exercises such as these strengthen communication, coordination and shared responsibility across the team.
Virida Day Hospital would like to thank Ariska Roets for facilitating the training and guiding the team through a valuable day of practical learning.

Ongoing professional development and preparedness remain important parts of Virida’s commitment to providing patients with care in a safe, professional and supportive environment.
People. Care. Better Days.
